Contribute to the Haunted Hare
Anybody can add something to the Haunted Hare. The stories don’t belong exclusively to us, we don't want anything for them and we don’t want to decide things in advance.
We recognise that the pub’s story might build up pretty slowly, but that’s OK. All pubs were new once.
If you'd like to contribute something, send it to hello@mikehankin.com. Please put HAUNTED HARE CONTRIBUTION in the subject line. Just remember to let us know how you’d like to be credited.
Of course, by sending something to the Haunted Hare, you're giving us permission to publish it as part of the project. But naturally you still own all your work and can use it however you like.
Having said that, this is a collaborative project, so other contributors are welcome to respond to, contradict or build on your contributions. Although that doesn’t mean that they can reproduce your work without permission.
A few rules
We do want the Haunted Hare to grow through other people's contributions, but we're also going to curate things a little as it develops. That doesn't mean we're looking for things which are especially polished or impressive. We just want the pub to feel, in some loose way, like the same place. We might occasionally hold something back, suggest a small change or decide that something doesn't quite fit. Hopefully we'll do that with a fairly light touch.
There are only really three rules.
No AI. Please make sure that whatever you’ve added was made by you and that you have permission to share it. Never say never, but it’s extremely unlikely that anything made using AI is going to be added to the site.
Try not to pin the pub down too precisely to the real world. We don't think the Haunted Hare needs a real county, town or street to make it special.
Try to add rather than overwrite. Obviously things can contradict each other and nobody needs to agree on what actually happened. Just don't deliberately undo somebody else's contribution. This is a nice pub!
That said, this is ultimately our pub. We suppose that makes us the creative landlords, and like any landlords we reserve the right to chuck people out if they’re misbehaving. It’s open to everyone, but that doesn’t mean anything goes. Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, xenophobia, right-wing nonsense, harassment, bullying and deliberately hateful or threatening behaviour are not welcome here.
There's plenty of room for disagreement, weird stuff, bad taste, silliness and things we don't personally understand or especially like. But there isn't room for making other people feel unwelcome.
